On April 30th, 2008, the Micro Enterprise
Resource Group (MERG) honored Harland Henry as the
Micro Business Advocate of the Year at its 4th
annual recognition gala at the Capitol Building.
Deputy Secretary of the State Lesley D. Mara
introduced Harland Henry, Manager, Small and
Minority Business Services Unit, Office of the
Secretary of the State. Both addressed the
audience of micro business owners, legislators, and
other guests.
The presenting sponsor, CEDF President & CEO Donna
Wertenbach, also spoke briefly about the importance
of micro enterprise in Connecticut. CT Business
Advocate Rob Simmons also made some brief remarks.
The event was preceded by a three-day exhibit in the
main concourse of the LOB, which featured 18 tables
of information about micro enterprise in CT, along
with displays by more than 40 MERG member businesses and
several member organizations. Photos of the

Micro Enterprise
Resource Group
The Micro Enterprise Resource Group (MERG) was
originally established by CEDF and other local
partners in the fall of 2004 in response to a need
for advocacy on behalf of micro business owners
throughout the state of Connecticut.
MERG is a group of concerned companies who recognize
the positive impact micro enterprises have on
Connecticut’s economy and to the individuals who
operate them.MERG's mission is to advocate for and promote the
interests of micro enterprise in Connecticut.
